A Work in Progress

Glen Ellyn, IL

The Garden Conservancy Preservation Partner Garden

About

We have been developing our garden since 2000 when we began working with landscape architect Tony Tyznik. (Tony served as Landscape Architect for the Morton Arboretum for 40 years before retiring in 1993. He went on to work for a local nursery, The Planter’s Palette, which is how we began our collaboration.) Our garden rooms are spread out on 3 acres, with the designed garden portion taking up approximately 1 acre. The designed area includes a large bluestone patio; fountain; several perennial gardens; a vegetable and cutting garden; a pergola; and several fruit trees and fruiting shrubs. We also have a “wild” area, which we are slowly trying to reclaim as prairie. In the spring numerous various bulbs can be seen all around the property.

This garden’s estimated size is 3 acres.
