Garden Futures Grants

The Garden Conservancy will begin accepting applications for the 2026 Garden Futures Grants on Friday, May 1, 2026. The deadline for submission is Wednesday, July 15, 2026, at 5PM EST. You may refer to PDF version of the application here to plan your responses ahead of submission. However, only online submissions will be accepted.

These grants celebrate and highlight the work of innovative and diverse gardening practices throughout the United States. They are awarded to nonprofit organizations and small public gardens across the United States that are:

  1. Making a significant impact in their communities through garden-based programming, with a focus on the environment and diverse populations; or
  2. Contributing to the study and preservation of garden history.

Grant Considerations: Grants are for general operating support and typically range from $2,500-$10,000. Organizations with an annual operating budget of $1 million or less will be prioritized. Organizations must either be a 501(c)3 or apply through a fiscal sponsor that is exempt from federal income tax under Section 501(c)(3) of the Internal Revenue Code to be considered. All grant decisions are made with the assistance of our Grant Program Advisory Committee.

We have two named grants as part of our Garden Futures Grants program:

  1. The Page Dickey Grant for American Gardens is an endowed grant of $10,000, awarded each year to a distinguished small public garden.
  2. The Nibbled Leaf Grant for Ecological Gardening, named after the Garden Conservancy's nature-friendly gardening initiative, is awarded each year to an organization that is taking bold steps to support ecosystems and biodiversity and is educating others to do so.

Please note: Organizations that have received a grant from the Garden Conservancy within the past three years are ineligible for this grant cycle.

Deadline to apply: Wednesday, July 15, 2026, at 5PM EST.
