About

The family has owned this property for over 80 years. Over the last thirty years with no formal training, we have built this landscape to enjoy nature and create a peaceful environment. The overall “feeling of the place” has been the driver for both of us. The garden is carved into the surrounding forest. The forest edges provide a structural boundary for the gardens. The property is a sloped landscape with terraces to provide level areas for the plantings. The plantings consist of deciduous trees, conifers, flowering shrubs, perennial beds, and a raised bed vegetable garden. Stones are widely used throughout the site for interest all year. Color comes from PJMs and Rhodos in the spring, daylilies in July and August, and succulents and annuals in late summer. A large hosta collection provides interest all season.

This garden’s estimated size is 2 acres.

Terrain Notes: This garden features areas that may be difficult to navigate with walkers, canes, wheelchairs, or strollers. Sturdy walking shoes are strongly recommended for all visitors.
