This Digging Deeper is presented in partnership with the John Fairey Garden.
Director of Horticulture Wally Wilkins and Nursery Manager and Horticulturist Ashlyn Mashburn will lead a tour and presentation discussing the diversity of oaks in Texas and Mexico.
Beginning in 1988, John Fairey, who founded the John Fairey Garden, made over 100 botanizing trips to Mexico, the center of oak diversity on the planet. Consequently, the John Fairey Garden has one of the top collections of Mexican and Texas oaks in the country, including oaks that have not been described by horticulture.
Digging Deepers are typically lecture-based programs, and are closer to a guided walking tour. Please plan to arrive promptly at the start time to enjoy the full lecture.
