As part of the Garden Conservancy's Garden Masters Series, join longtime Open Days Garden Host and acclaimed potter Frances Palmer for an intimate tour and discussion of historical pottery that delights and inspires her in the collections of the Metropolitan Museum of Art.
Frances’s tastes are eclectic and wide ranging and so also the tour. The tour will consider luxurious vessels and utilitarian amphorae alike in the Ancient Roman and Greek Galleries, brilliant Wedgwood in the British Galleries, and the mesmerizing creations of twentieth-century autodidact George E. Ohr in the American Wing. Seeing these objects are like visiting old friends for Frances, who trained as an art historian before turning to ceramics in 1987. As a potter and gardener, she loves the process of changing ideas into form—and the history of art is integral to her creative process. This program includes lunch at The Met Dining Room.
TICKETS will be available to purchase on April 1 at 10 a.m., by phone order only. Call 845.424.6500
