About

Developing my garden in this suburban neighborhood has been an ongoing project since 1997, as there were almost no gardens on the property when my family moved in.

Now, 28 years later, the landscape looks quite different.

There are curving island beds in sun and shade, paths wandering through a woodland garden, collections of dwarf conifers, a small vegetable garden, another shade garden with a swing, and a tiny water feature in a side garden still under construction.

Closer to the house is a terraced garden with stone walls, leading up to a small patio filled with containers of colorful annuals and a large deck with more containers.

My goal is to have something of interest at all seasons, so there are large rhododendrons, azaleas, and bulbs blooming in the spring; perennials and annuals for color in the spring, summer, and fall; and many unusual trees and shrubs for the fall and winter.

This garden’s estimated size is 2-1/2 acres.

This Garden Host reports the following Terrain Notes about the garden: The property is gently sloped. To get to the patio, there is a short uphill path or steps and stepping stones. The paths in the woodland garden are covered with woodchips.
