The Garden Conservancy Preservation Partner Garden

About

Kingsmont is located on a twelve-acre site in the Berkshire Mountains of western Massachusetts. The land, once part of a summer camp, is terraced down the eastern side of Harvey Mountain.

We began to develop the gardens in 2010 and gardens now surround the house on all sides. Large trees and shrubs screen the house from the road, and a circular driveway in front of the house is surrounded by flowering trees, shrubs, grasses and perennials.

An allée of apple trees connects the house and barn’s trellised garden. A bank leads down to a large pond flanked by mature trees. The bank includes a solar array surrounded by multiple beds of grasses, small trees, shrubs and perennials. An experimental dry garden abuts one meadow and overlooks another.

Heading back up to the house level leads to a lawn bordered by stone walls that run south from the house. The property includes numerous trees, extensive stonework plus a number of sculptures located throughout the property.
