Low maintenance, drought-tolerant and family friendly were the goals when designing this recently updated garden at this rental property. After minimal attention for the past 10+ years the owners wished to give the yard fresh curb appeal with new plantings and updated lighting. This was accomplished by installing a 590-square-foot area of turf in the front yard surrounded by plantings with low upkeep and color in mind. The two existing 30-foot mature birches provide added interest.

Installing 600 square feet of turf to the backyard allowed the tenants an area for recreation which also includes two raised planting beds for vegetables and flowers along with with an area for their sizable chicken coop. An allée of gingko trees covers a decomposed granite walkway alongside the garage providing shade for a dining area.

This garden’s estimated size is 5,000 sq. ft.

This Garden Host reports the following Terrain Notes about the garden: Visitors can view the front garden from the paved sidewalk and front walkway; they can enter the backyard via the side paved driveway. There is a paved patio and a decomposed granite walkway.
