Enchanting Rose Garden

I am so pleased to participate in Open Days during the month of June, as this is the time of glory for the garden’s dominant feature: the roses. A galvanized steel cloister supports John Davis and Jeanne LaJoie climbing roses which transform the yard into an enchanted place. Additional roses of the John Cabot and Carefree Beauty varieties can be found in beds at the end of the drive. The planters behind the cloister are a sentimental tribute to four important women in my life and are planted with different annuals each year. Availability determines the mix. Tomato trellises are a recent addition to the tribute beds because the daily tomato picking routine with grandchildren is a happy highlight of each day.
