Eleder Nature Sanctuary
Homer Glen, IL
About
Nestled against a woodland edge in the Hidden Valley subdivision of Homer Glen sits a half-acre suburban lot that has been transformed into a peaceful natural oasis.
Visitors who follow the wooded path along the side of the home will find a variety of fairy figures and reading sculptures to welcome them. A mature shagbark hickory guarded by a whimsical bear sculpture splits the path into two garden rooms. A wooden bridge leads to an imaginative fairy garden and a large flower fairy sculpture.
As you pass the Japanese-inspired rain garden you will see an array of Mexican pottery and a bird bath, as well as several columns with hanging vegetable baskets and shelves with decorative bird houses.
As you continue on, you come to a gazebo that is nestled in a wooded corner that is a relaxing place to sit and enjoy all the wonders of this natural oasis.
This garden's estimated size is 1/2 acre.
This Garden Host reports the following Terrain Notes about the garden: Visitors to this garden will walk along a wood-chip path to visit the various garden rooms. There are no steps, except if visitors choose to step up and walk across the two wooden bridges, or want to step up into the gazebo.
