Digging Deeper: Plantings at America's Oldest Garden Cemetery
Cambridge, MA
About
This Digging Deeper is presented in partnership with COG Design.
Mount Auburn Cemetery, founded in 1838 as America's first garden cemetery, is renowned for its plant collection and landscape character. Larry Weaner Landscape Associates has designed several sites on the cemetery grounds including a native meadow at the Washington Tower located at the highest point on the property. In addition, the group designed a native sedge and wildflower mosaic near the entrance at Ridge Path, providing an enhanced visitor experience as well as important habitat.
