About
Cheerio! Welcome to Cheerio Cottage, named in the 1940s by its previous British owner. In 2006 Gary and Tony were looking for a weekend getaway in the Hudson Valley. One day, they turned onto a tree-lined driveway and saw a breathtaking view. Before they could even get out of their car, they knew Cheerio Cottage was the place for them. The over 100-year-old house needed some work, some love and some expansion. In 2011, Gary built a classic red barn for his vintage 1969 Ford Ranger. After all that work, alas, the garden was neglected. They called it Grey Gardens! Finally, in 2017, they hired Victoria Gardens to design and install a garden to complement their beautiful home. A bluestone sidewalk, driveway stone walls, and back patio all were part of the garden installation, which is just now coming into its own. There is also an antique water pump reworked into a water feature in the back grotto, and on the great lawn there are two sculptures created by Memphis artist Caroll Todd. Gary and Tony would like to thank Pasquale Strocchia of Integral Building and Design for his help with all the construction and Victoria Coyne for creating the landscape. Be sure to take a moment and sit in one of the Adirondack chairs, perfectly placed to enjoy the view of the mountains that Gary and Tony first fell in love with. Cheerio!
