Bonnie's English Cottage Garden

About
My garden is in bloom from March to November here in Southern Oregon’s Mediterranean climate. There are hundreds of varieties of herbaceous perennials, flowering trees including golden chain, crape myrtle, dogwood and crabapple.
Flowering shrubs include camellia, rhododendron, azalea, magnolia, several varieties of lilac, butterfly bush, several varieties of hydrangea, peonies, spirea, weigela and more. There is a rose bed, shade garden, space for tomatoes, loganberries and raspberries. Adding interest are spring bulbs and a few pots of annuals.
I am especially fond of my hostas, astilbe and daylilies. There is an arbor that defines the transition from the front to the back yard. Bird baths, a small flagstone patio and a variety of garden art can be seen.
Twelve years ago I bought the 1/6th acre with a house that had stood empty for over a year. It had the basic shape of a garden with a few trees, rhodies and groundcovers that suffered from neglect and lack of water. I’ve been giving it life and color—a fun project that never ends! I have two degrees in art, and this garden is like having a live painting where I am constantly improving the composition, color, texture and lines. It is my pride and joy!
This garden’s estimated size is .22 acres
