Saturday, June 28 Open Day at Henderson Hollow Farm

Our garden began in 1990 on this secluded, defunct farm, taking its form from a dry streambed running down the hillside. The beds are dense, deep, and layered, the plants encouraged to retain some of their wildness, often forming drifts from self- sown seedlings. Paths extend out of the garden into both woodland and meadow, as the garden reflects and reaches into the surrounding landscape. The stonework is old and ongoing: two planted terraces, a rustic stone bridge, hand-hewn flagstones, rebuilt walls, stone steps snaking through a swampy meadow. There’s rusty metal, too. Antique trucks and farm equipment are settled about, and an iron footbridge crosses the streambed. The garden was featured in Garden Design magazine. The house, barns, and front porch are open to all our visitors.

This garden’s estimated size is 2 acres.
