Soos Creek Botanical Garden & Heritage Center
Auburn, WA
The twenty-three-acre garden was created over five decades by Maurice Skagen and his partner James Daly. Maurice transformed the acreage into eleven beautiful garden rooms. Frequent trips to England and Japan in the 1980s inspired his design of the parallel long borders beyond the Schaffer Pond. It is a garden of many colors and textures, with native and exotic collections. Paths lead from one garden room to the next with song birds, butterflies and other wildlife enjoying the quiet relaxing atmosphere of nature.
