NSCDA Museum House & Garden
New York, NY
The Georgian-style house was designed by distinguished architect Richard Henry Dana Jr. and built between 1928 and 1930 with pre-revolutionary architectural features. The Museum contains an excellent genealogical library, an especially fine collection of Dutch and English Delft, and is furnished primarily with eighteenth-century objects. The Liddell Memorial Garden was renovated in 2008 by Laurie Eichengreen, a landscape designer of note in New York City. The rear courtyard garden is planted with evergreens, including camellias, which articulate the beds. Bulbs and annuals provide seasonal color and interest. Architectural elements include large planters and a reproduction of an eighteenth-century English fountain. The Museum House is home to The National Society of The Colonial Dames of America in the State of New York.
