Jim and Dorothy's Garden
Denver, CO
Dry/xeriscape, Organic/toxin-free, Substantial native plants
This garden was first planted in 1997 with 10,000 homegrown western native plants. The garden received its only watering during that first summer, at the end of which it suffered a devastating hailstorm that leveled the garden in addition to destroying all neighborhood roofs, cars, and windows. Though a number of small seedlings managed to survive, replacement continues, now with the aid of a portable drill, tubelings, and no water, even when planting. Visitors from around the world have visited the garden where annuals, perennials, shrubs, and trees exist in harmony with nature.
This garden's estimated size is 5,000 sq. feet.
