English Tudor Residential Garden
San Francisco, CA
This renovated English Garden surrounds a 1937 English Tudor home in beautiful St. Francis Woods. The landscaping was designed by Arterra Landscape Architects in 2007. The renovation included assessment of the soil and drainage conditions, and substantial modifications to the hardscape and landscape plans to the front and backyard while complementing the original landscape design with several of the original shrubs left in place in the front and side of the residence. The backyard now includes an arbor, patio, new fencing, built-in seating wall, flagstone, lighting, and ornamental pots. Over time, some shrubs were replaced, and the garden now consists of a wide variety of trees and shrubs, including Podocarpus gracilior, azara, English boxwood, rosemary, azaleas, hydrangeas, loropetalum, anemone, clivia, huechera, abutilon, camellia, star jasmine, agapanthus, pittosporum, daphnes, 'Biokovo' geraniums, Coleonema 'Compact', and more.
