About

This Digging Deeper is presented in partnership with the Fort Orange Garden Club.

In May of 1923, Albany area ladies of privilege gathered in the home of Louisa Van Rensselaer to discuss the creation of a garden club. The Fort Orange Garden Club was founded with the intention of joining Garden Club of America, which was achieved in three years time. In 2023, the Fort Orange Garden Club highlighted its Centennial with a Flower Show celebrating our history in the Burhmaster Barn on the grounds of the Pruyn House also known as the Town Cultural Center. The gardens we maintain are located just outside the barn amongst several historical structures for you to tour. Many wedding couples begin their married life together strolling through the flowers we have nurtured and represent our commitment to the community. Please come visit our gardens so that we may continue the story.
