Welcome to the 2008 Open Days Program

Here at the Garden Conservancy, we believe that the best way to learn about gardens and to appreciate them, is to simply spend more time in them. Through the more than 300 gardens that will be open in 2008, we invite you to explore first-hand examples of outstanding design and horticultural practice that are growing in America’s gardens.

We are very grateful to our national presenting sponsor W. Atlee Burpee & Co and their family of quality products offered through Heronswood Nursery and The Cook’s Garden. In addition to their generous sponsorship support, Burpee will also welcome the public to their historic Fordhook Farm in Doylestown, Pennsylvania on April 26 and again on July 12; and to the extraordinary Heronswood during our Bainbridge Island, Washington Open Day, on July 26.

Our national media sponsor Fine Gardening has published volume 2 of Great Gardens. It features 10 great Open Days gardens with beautiful color photographs and narrative. New this year are profiles of public gardens around the country and additional information about these gardens on Fine Gardening’s web site.

To use our on-line database of gardens, click on 2008 Schedule . Please note that some of our garden hosts prefer not to have their information shared through our website. To be sure you are able to see all participating gardens in your area, purchase our Open Days Directories. Given the growing popularity of our web site and to streamline our distribution process, we are now offering only the National Edition of the Directory. The Directory is available now.

Click here to register for Open Days e-mail reminders that include last minute additions and changes to our Open Days Schedule. They also serve as a great reminder to put down your pruners and spend some time in your neighbor's garden.
