STORM DAMAGE AT ROCKY HILLS
Several mature hemlocks and a large cedar were downed in late winter storms, causing considerable further damage as they fell. A staggering amount of trunks and branches must be cut and mulched, arbors rebuild, newly exposed rhododendrons relocated.

The Garden Conservancy presented an award at the San Francisco Flower & Garden Show to the Garden Route Company for their 2010 Show Garden entry. The Garden Conservancy Award, A Garden that Ages Well, honors a garden that exhibits a strong design idea that will mature gracefully, demonstrating the ability of a garden, as a living work of art and horticulture, to absorb, orchestrate, and take advantage of ongoing change and growth as it moves into the future.

APPL PARTNERSHIP PROGRAM AWARD
The restoration of the Gardens of Alcatraz won first place for a Partnership Program/Project. The award was presented to the Garden Conservancy, the Golden Gate National Parks Conservancy, and the National Park Service in San Diego by the Association of Partners in Public Land on February 10, 2010.
The judges commented: Great programmatic partnership, utilizing
volunteers, program was well explained and documented.
